The Los Angeles Lakers are heading into the 2026 NBA Draft hoping to strengthen their Luka Doncic-led roster while adding affordable players. No matter if they keep or trade the No. 25 pick, checking out draft prospects has been a key part of their offseason plans.

The Lakers have worked out a wide range of prospects. These include players who could be selected at No. 25, second-round candidates, and potential undrafted free agents. As the team continues to gather intel on who to select, here are some of the players who have worked out with them so far.

Lakers’ Workout List

Sources have confirmed to Lakers24Eight that the following prospects have worked out with the Lakers:

* Baba Miller — PF, Cincinnati
* Tre Donaldson — PG, Miami
* AK Okereke — PF, Vanderbilt
* Chauncey Wiggins — PF, Florida State
* Duke Brennan — C, Villanova
* Drake Allen — PG, Utah State
* Corey Stephenson — SF, FIU
* Jamichael Stillwell — PF, UCF
* Marquel Sutton — PF, LSU
* Mohamed Wague — C, Oklahoma
* Tre’Von Spillers — F, Wake Forest
* Themus Fulks — G, UCF

Pre-draft workouts usually don’t show exactly who a team will pick, but they do give clues about what kinds of players the team likes and which positions they might want to fill. These workouts also help teams find players for Summer League, two-way contracts, or Exhibit 10 deals if they aren’t drafted.

The Lakers recently hired Tony Bennett as a draft advisor. Meanwhile, the team has yet to hire an assistant general manager expected to oversee the draft process. So Bennett’s influence will likely play a major role in the Lakers’ selection.

Frontcourt Depth Appears To Be A Priority

One of the clearest takeaways from the workouts is the amount of size the Lakers have evaluated.

Seven out of the 12 confirmed prospects mainly play in the frontcourt. This group—Baba Miller, AK Okereke, Chauncey Wiggins, Duke Brennan, Jamichael Stillwell, Marquel Sutton, and Mohamed Wague—brings different skills. But together they offer size, rebounding, defense inside, and the ability to play multiple positions.

This doesn’t mean the Lakers are set on picking a big man. Teams often work out players for positions they might fill through free agency or trades. But size and athleticism in the frontcourt is something that needs to be addressed on their roster.

Backcourt And Wing Options

The Lakers also need more two-way players on the perimeter, especially when it comes to the playoffs. The draft could provide them with a long-term solution, or even one that contributes right away.

Tre Donaldson, Drake Allen, and Themus Fulks lead the group of guards, while Corey Stephenson and Tre’Von Spillers add more size and flexibility on the wing. By looking at different types of backcourt players, the Lakers show they’re open to players with a range of skills on both offense and defense.

Workouts give teams a chance to learn more than just a player’s skills. They also show a player’s personality, basketball smarts, and how coachable they are. These things matter even more when looking at players who might fight for a roster spot after the first round.

Finding An Immediate Contributor

The workout list gives us a look at how the Lakers are evaluating players. But the main goal is simple: pick someone who can play in the NBA. That seems obvious, but the Lakers’ recent draft success doesn’t seem to reflect that.

Whether the Lakers ultimately keep the No. 25 pick or trade it, the organization will be looking for someone who can contribute to a team with championship aspirations. Ideally, that means selecting a player who can earn rotation minutes as early as next season rather than requiring multiple years of development.

The pre-draft process is designed to help answer those questions. By bringing in prospects from a variety of backgrounds and playing styles, the Lakers are gathering as much information as possible before making one of the most important decisions of their offseason.
