Luka Doncic Los Angeles Lakers recovery in the offseason

Lakers fans got the best news of the offseason: Luka Doncic is completely healthy as the 2026-27 season approaches.

In an email to fans, the Lakers superstar shared that his offseason recovery is finished. He spent the first weeks of summer rehabbing the injury that cut his first season in Los Angeles short.

“I took a real break from basketball the first few weeks after the season ended to rehab my body. My recovery went great, and I’m 100% healthy again.”

Doncic’s health has been a major topic for the Lakers this offseason. After his season ended with a hamstring injury, the team kept building around him.  They moved like they expected he would be ready for training camp. His latest update shows everything is on track.

The Biggest News of the Summer

The Lakers made major changes to their roster this offseason. But none of those moves would matter as much if Doncic wasn’t expected to be healthy for opening night.

Since the season ended, every decision the Lakers have made has focused on making the most of their championship chances. And this was all with Luka Doncic as the focal point. Whether it’s adding better teammates or getting ready for another playoff run, the team’s success depends on having their star player available.

His update should put to rest any worries that his injury might affect his training camp preparation. Now, instead of spending the rest of the offseason rehabbing, Doncic can focus on basketball and building chemistry with a team expected to compete at the top of the Western Conference.

A Season Cut Short

Before his postseason was cut short by a hamstring injury, Doncic had put together one of the best seasons of his career, firmly establishing himself in the MVP conversation while proving to be everything the Lakers envisioned when they acquired him. His ability to control the offense, elevate his teammates and deliver in the biggest moments transformed Los Angeles into one of the Western Conference’s most dangerous teams.

With his recovery now complete, the focus shifts from rehabilitation to building on that success.

Focus on the Upcoming Season

The Lakers started the offseason hoping Doncic would be fully recovered by training camp. According to his own update, they’ve reached that goal.

Now that rehab is behind him, Doncic can focus on getting ready for his second season in Los Angeles. For a team aiming for a championship, having their star healthy from day one is the best way to start the new season.
